Stage 1: ECU file modification by a specialist

Stage 1 is an engine control unit software modification for a vehicle with standard hardware. At ECU.EXPERT, a specialist prepares the Stage 1 file from the original file read from your ECU, not an automated generator.

You order it in your dashboard: upload the ORI file, choose Stage 1 and follow the status until you download the MOD file.

What Stage 1 involves

A specialist develops the engine calibration (such as fuel, boost pressure and torque limit maps) for a standard vehicle, within the limits intended for the engine and its hardware. We work on the original file from your ECU, so every modification starts from a known baseline.

Results depend on the engine, the vehicle's condition and the software version, so we don't promise guaranteed power gains. Estimated figures for specific engines are published in the power catalogue once the data is verified.

What we need

  • The unmodified original file (ORI, a .bin, .mpc, .hex, .s19 or .srec file) read from the ECU.
  • Vehicle make, model and engine, plus the ECU manufacturer and model.
  • Information about the hardware and any previous modifications (in the request description).

How a request works

  1. 1

    You upload the original

You create a project in your dashboard and upload the ORI file. Its size is recorded and verified.

  2. 2

    You choose Stage 1

You see the price in credits before submitting. Credits are only reserved.

  3. 3

    A specialist prepares the file

A specialist prepares and checks the calibration by hand, and you follow the request status in your dashboard.

  4. 4

    You download the MOD file

The MOD file has the same size as the original and lists the modifications made. Corrections (V2, V3) within the request are free.

The whole process is described on How It Works

Responsible use

  • The modification assumes a technically sound vehicle with standard hardware; if in doubt, describe the vehicle's condition in the request.
  • We don't promise specific power gains or turnaround times: every request is prepared individually.
  • A software change that increases power may need to be reported to your insurer and, in some countries (e.g. Germany and Austria), approved by a vehicle inspector; it usually ends the manufacturer's engine warranty. The customer is responsible for using the file in line with the laws of their country.
